Meet University High School Teacher, Mrs. Cook.

We are proud to feature my Tap Teacher and Math Teacher, Mrs. Cook.

Q: Where were you born and raised?
A: Spokane, Washington.

Q: Where did you go to college and get your teaching degree?
A: Washington State University. Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.

Q: What was your favorite subjects in school?
A: Math of course! I had a really great math teacher for 3 years in high school.

Q: Did you play in any sports in high school? College?
A: Varsity soccer for four years, varsity basketball for 3 years, varsity softball for 4 years; all at East Valley. College: softball at WSU.

Q: When did you realize that you wanted to coach?
A: I always had excellent coaches so I knew that when I was done playing I would want to coach.

Q: Where was your first teaching job?
A: Univeristy High School - I student taught fall of 2003 here and was fortunate enough to be hired after that. My first coaching job was assisting Kevin Houston for Girls varsity soccer when I was student teaching.

Q: How long have you been at University High School?
A: Including student teaching, I have been here for 4 years..

Q: What do you do for hobbies?
A: Play sports of course - indoor soccer, hoopfest, volleyball leagues, and "Spike and Dig". But, right now I am still recovering from an ACL surgery, so my activities are limited to running on a tread mill and lifting weights.

Q: If you were not at U High teaching and coaching what would you like to be doing?
A: A stay at home mom, although I don’t have any kids yet. But then again, as a teacher I will get to do that in the summers, so I guess I have the best of both worlds.

Q: Background information:

1. What is your favorite food?
A: Fettucini Alfredo.


2. What is your favorite movie?
A: Love Actually, Step Up.


3. What is your favorite band/artist?
A: I like all country, especially Kenny Chesney - Back where I came from.


4. Tell us about your family:
A: I am married to Josh Cook - it will be two years on July 30th. No kids yet. I have one brother named Ian Schumacher and my dad and mom are Steve and Debbie Schumacher.
